Job Summary: Electrical Engineer
Salary: $100,000-$140,000 year plus benefits, depending on experience and education level.
Radiance Energy is now hiring an experienced full-time Electrical Engineer for Solar, Battery, EV, and LED install projects in B.C., the US and the rest of Canada. The Electrical Engineer will manage out of province projects remotely from our offices in downtown Vancouver, as well as travel to work in person with clients and contractors to oversee operations from start to finish and ensure all aspects of our projects are completed properly, on time and on budget.
The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time to project sites locally around BC, the US, and the rest of Canada. Curiosity, an appetite for learning and a high aptitude for innovative problem solving are key qualities we look for in candidates.
In this key role, you will be responsible for the development, planning, designing and efficient operation to propose suitable renewable energy systems. The role includes effective collaboration with the project management team, senior leadership, and clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and plan solar + battery energy systems, ensuring consideration of all relevant factors.
- Oversee project implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Assess buildings and produce Electrical Planning Reports to the requirements of B.C. Reg. 43/2000 - OIC 671-23.
- Monitor and report on project efficiency, cost, and safety.
- Address outages, emergencies, and conduct system maintenance as needed.
- Conduct financial reviews and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Inspect installation sites and prepare technical reports.
- Use relevant software proficiently for system design and testing (primarily Excel, CAD an asset. Other software systems can be learned on the job)
- Provides strategic leadership for planning, designing and efficient operation of energy supply and demand systems.
- Collaborate with project management team in supporting winning sales proposals.
- Research rebates and incentives and work with local utility companies on rebate options
- Develop and manage project budgets to find the optimal balance of cost, quality and speed.
- Collaborate on assessments of electricity management strategies during the planning, business case and procurement phases of projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local utility companies, partners and clients and ensure we are meeting their expectations.
- Collaborate with the company’s independent installation companies to manage pricing, scheduling, and timelines for lighting projects.
- Manage the change order process.
As the successful candidate you have:
- University degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalency.
- Registered P.Eng or eligible for P.Eng through EGBC
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the solar or wind industry
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and deft project and time management skills, including an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in MS Office
- Solution-oriented thinking skills
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.
- Proven experience in any area of developing, selling, designing, managing, or implementing solar and/or wind energy systems.
- Strong computer skills for design and establishing cost-efficiency (calculating ROI)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Valid B.C. Driver's license
