Description
Inclusion Manager – 35 hours per week Full Time position. This is a On-Site position.
Kiwassa Neighbourhood House grows a welcoming and inclusive community in the vibrant Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods of East Vancouver, Located on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səlílw̓ətaʔ/Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh), and xʷməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam) Nations.
We are seeking an Inclusion Coordinator to join Kiwassa. The Inclusion Coordinator supports Kiwassa’s vision to grow a welcoming and inclusive community through planning and providing resources for educators, and supports care for participants in a multicultural, inclusive child care program. They will be responsible for supporting educators to provide: developmentally appropriate activity planning for a groups of children up to age 12, direct supervision and evaluation of children and communication with families and educators.
The key responsibilities for this role include:
- Works with partnering organizations and individual educators to establish care plans for children with additional needs
- Provides resources and supports to childcare centre employees to assist in developing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all children
- Observes and follows up with educators and partnering organizations regarding goal plans for individuals
- Provides support to childcare centres during coordinators absences and for escalated situations
- Provides one-on-one development and supports childcare centres as required
- Plans and implements activities and experiences for ECE professional development in collaboration with ECPN
- Facilitates workshops, professional development days, and assists Childcare Director & People and Culture, HR Manager with updates and maintenance of Childcare Policies
- Creates opportunities for staff to share and learn from each other
- Works with coordinators and educators to ensure best practices are followed when planning to meet children’s early learning needs
- Coaches and inspires educators to provide the best possible outcomes for children
- Ensures safety and wellbeing of children participating in programs
- Provides updates and reporting as required
- Maintains an operationally appropriate list of ECE substitutes and supports with hiring
- Supports Educators in finding appropriate coverage, and supports in programs as needed
- Supports with dispatching coverage as needed
- Establishes partnering relationships with post-secondary institutes
- Provides onboarding and training to new substitute hires
- Maintains documentation of recruitment activities and new hires
- Other duties, as assigned
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Assists with other responsibilities at the direction of the Director, Childcare
- Can self-initiate work in a collaborative environment
- Makes recommendations for new processes and improvements
- Contributes to a high performance and positive work environment
- Promotes and represents the organization in the community, supports and attends events
Reporting Relationship:
This position reports to the Director of Childcare.
Qualifications:
Education and Knowledge
- Early Childhood Education Certificate
- Post-basic Infant/Toddler and Special Needs certificates or training an asset
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Knowledge and demonstrated skill in trauma-informed and cultural competence practices
Training and Experience
- Minimum one (1) year’s experience supervising, coaching or consulting with ECEs
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in various childcare settings
- Experience working with partner organizations and families when planning for children with additional
- Demonstrated ability to work with, support and relate to children and their caregivers
- Demonstrated ability to conduct development needs assessment, create training materials, facilitate and evaluate skill development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, and task facilitation
- An innovative and creative mindset and learning orientation, continually looking for opportunities to improve and enhance
- Collaborative and solution-oriented

Salary: $58,000 to $70,000 annually
