Description

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Director, Principal Gifts or the Associate Director, Principal Gifts, the Philanthropy Coordinator will manage and execute the strategic direction for select prospective donors, act as the liaison for select donors currently in stewardship and play a key supporting role in the strategic direction and activity of select prospective donors. In addition, this role will provide administrative support to the Principal Gifts department to ensure efficient operations of the team.

More specifically, you will:

  • Supporting the Principal Gifts Director and Associate Directors to act as the Foundation liaison for select donors currently in cultivation and stewardship, supporting the Director and Associate Directors to be externally focused, whilst managing all the internal pieces outlined below:
  • Working with Research & Prospect Management to submit and obtain information for prospective donors; reviewing completed research to identify information that could help advance a donor relationship and/or strategy. Manage this information as required to ensure appropriate activity is in place acting either independently or in a supporting role depending on the prospective donor.
  • Requesting prospective donor funding opportunities from the Strategic Partnerships team and reviewing these opportunities to determine appropriate next steps. Manage this process as required to ensure appropriate next steps are in place acting either independently or in a supporting role depending on the prospective donor.
  • Reviewing prospect lists (active and inactive) and making recommendations on next steps and actions that could advance the donor relationship. Manage this process as required to ensure appropriate next steps are in place acting either independently or in a supporting role depending on the prospective donor.
  • Preparing and overseeing the development and execution of a variety of written correspondence (e.g., letters, emails, reports) for donors.
  • Developing briefing and debriefing notes for Donor meetings; ensuring that actions identified in meetings are followed up on. Manage this information as required to ensure appropriate activity is in place acting either independently or in a supporting role depending on the prospective donor.
  • Maintaining donor records in Raiser’s Edge database (RE); proactively inputting notes and actions into RE to and ensuring information/actions are brought forward as needed.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the Principal Gifts donor pipeline in RE as well as managing the donor pipeline for select prospective donors.
  • Manage a small portfolio (5 – 10 donors) who have potential to give at the $50,000+ level, with support and coaching from a Principal Gifts Director or Associate Director, where needed.
  • Responsible for driving forward the relationship with this portfolio, from identification to solicitation and seeking collaboration with other teams within the Foundation and wider organization where appropriate to help build these relationships.

 

What you bring

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., administration, business, marketing, fundraising, etc).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a fundraising environment.
  • Knowledge, with an advantage of hands-on experience of, how to build relationships with major and principal gifts donors, from identification to solicitation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with database administration; Raiser’s Edge experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communications skills with an ability to draft, proof, edit and write a range of written materials.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with a high level of discretion.
  • Well-developed time management and organization skills with an ability to efficiently manage a diverse range of assignments while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong team player with an ability to work collaboratively as well as autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with people at all levels, including donors, hospital partners, senior volunteers, patient families and internal colleagues.
  • Excellent customer service ethic with an ability to create and foster positive relationships.

The hiring range for this position is between $59,700 and $66,700 hired, you will be eligible for annual salary increases based on performance. At BCCHF, we are committed to ensuring that compensation is fair and equitable. Your placement in the hiring range will be dependent on factors such as experience, relevant skills and qualifications, and internal equity.

As an organization who advocates for child health, we have implemented a mandatory vaccination policy requiring that all employees who work for BCCHF must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Additional Information

There are two (2) Philanthropy Coordinator positions – (1) one is a full-time, permanent position; and (1) is a full-time contract position (12-month maternity leave contract).
